Fluid Mechanics Test Facility
This test setup consists of a base module and various attachments.
The base module includes a water tank and a pump that can be used to generate flow.
Using various attachments, a wide range of aspects of fluid mechanics (e.g., pressures or friction losses in pipes) can be demonstrated, and students can conduct experiments independently.
The campus lab currently has attachments available for the following topics:
- Hydrostatic pressure in liquids
- Stability of floating bodies
- Bernoulli’s principle
- Measurement of jet forces
- Pressure losses in piping systems
- Osborne-Reynolds Experiment
In addition, the basic module alone can be used to conduct other simple experiments, such as discharge measurements at overflow weirs.
