BIH Meeting 2025
The 9th Symposium for Research Staff and Early-Career Researchers at University Civil Engineering Institutions (BIH Meeting for short) was held from August 27 to August 29, 2025, at Kiel University of Applied Sciences.
The BIH Meeting offers an excellent opportunity for professional and personal exchange among academic staff at universities of applied sciences. Within this framework, presentations are given on current research topics, applications from the laboratory and the field, and innovative teaching methods. The BIH Meeting was first launched in 2016 by Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The first meetings took place in Mülheim an der Ruhr (2016), Giessen (2017), and Cologne (2018). The fourth meeting was hosted in Dresden (2019), followed by events in Frankfurt am Main (2021), Bielefeld (2022), Berlin (2023), and Mainz (2024).
As part of this year’s event, presentations were given on topics related to structural engineering, construction operations, sustainability, and teaching. Participants were also given a guided tour of the laboratories of the Institute of Civil Engineering on campus and at the Seefischmarkt. The poster session concluded the event. Twenty-one people from six universities across Germany participated. The event was organized by Kay Lengert, a laboratory engineer, who also gave a presentation on the composite behavior of non-metallic reinforcement.
The next meeting will take place in 2026, once again in Mühlheim an der Ruhr.
