Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV)

A test procedure in accordance with DIN EN 14769 that induces changes in the binder properties similar to those expected in practice during the service life of 5 to 10 years. The binder is first subjected to an RTFO test. Aging is carried out by spreading bitumen onto metal trays to form a thin binder film. These trays are then placed in a pressure vessel and subjected to an overpressure of 2.1 MPa for approximately 20 hours at a temperature of 90 °C, 100 °C, or 110 °C.
