Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR)
The bending beam rheometer (BBR) test, conducted in accordance with DIN EN 14771, is used to investigate the behavior of bitumen at low temperatures. From a recorded bending creep curve, two parameters are determined that provide information about the stiffness of the specimen and the creep rate after a defined creep time. These two parameters allow the determination of the temperature at which bitumen transitions to a brittle state (assessment of bitumen’s resistance to embrittlement and cracking at low temperatures).
