Offer

Campus IT (CIT) is a central facility of HAW Kiel. We provide the university-wide data network as well as servers and storage resources for central applications in the areas of study, teaching and administration. Here is an overview of the most important IT services for students.

Students and employees of the university can find numerous documents in the internal area.

The user ID - your access to the IT services

The central user ID corresponds to your e-mail address and enables access to all digital services such as WLAN, e-mail, QIS and many other services. It is essential for your studies. The university will inform you of your user ID when you start your studies.

WLAN via eduroam

In all buildings and also in many outdoor areas on the Kiel and Österrönfeld campuses, you can use the university's free Wi-Fi with the help of your user ID. Access is via the eduroam network.

The eduroam network is available at many colleges and universities around the world. Wherever eduroam is offered, you can use it with your user ID. The eduroam network is constantly being expanded and can now be used at institutions in over 100 countries. Configuration tools are available for all common operating systems to set up access.

QIS

The student online service "QIS" is the central point for all aspects of examination administration. Students can register and deregister for examinations and view their grades here.

Casy

Students apply for courses at HAW Kiel via Casy. In addition, the entire student administration is located in Casy. Here, students can download their study certificates, update contact information and submit applications (e.g. leave of absence applications, exmatriculation applications, etc.).

e-mail

As a student, you will receive an e-mail account at the university when you start your studies. To access your emails, log in with your user ID. This can be done via a browser or a standard e-mail client.

Moodle learning platform

Moodle is the university's central digital learning platform. Here you will find virtual course rooms that complement your face-to-face courses. Purely digital teaching formats are also offered via Moodle. Your lecturers use this platform to provide you with individual learning material, texts to read, video recordings or organizational information, for example. Moodle also offers a wide range of (self-)learning and exchange opportunities, such as self-tests, forum discussions, wikis and glossaries.

You can log in to Moodle with your user ID. To access the respective courses, you usually need an enrollment key, which will be given to you by the lecturer at the beginning of a course.

A separate Moodle learning platform is available to students of the VFH online degree programs.

Web conference / online meeting

These systems are used to hold virtual courses at the university. If one of your courses is to take place (partially) digitally, the lecturer will send you a conference link that you can use to participate in the course. To participate in an event, use the conference link and log in to the web conference system with your user ID. An access code may be required to access the conference, which will also be communicated to you by the lecturer.

Cloud storage / DFNcloud

The university's cloud storage is a secure cloud service for collaboration. As a student, you have access to free cloud storage. Whether it's assignments, work materials or lab results - you can store all data relevant to your studies in the university cloud, synchronize it with your end devices or share it with others. You can access the university cloud via a browser or a client for your operating system - login is via your user ID.

IT help

Documents and manuals can be found under Counselling, support and help in the internal area.
