Gina-Maria Kock
BA Public Relations and Corporate Communications,
reports from Vilnius University
The semester in Vilnius begins: I started my courses this week and I should slowly get used to the sight of the university and the campus. Or rather: the sight of the campuses (don't worry, I had to google the plural ;)). Vilnius University is located on two main campuses, the contrast between which could hardly be greater. On the one hand, there is the venerable campus in the old town, where Vilnius University was founded in 1579. Many of the old walls can still be found today and on the Old Town campus you feel a bit like in building C12 in Kiel: when you finally find your way to the right room, the seminar is almost over. In addition to a beautiful old library, there is even a church right on campus. The newer campus is half an hour away from the old town. Everything there is a lot more modern. The highlight is the new library, which is just six years old. The rooms and workstations are very modern and well equipped, but the best thing is that this library is open 24/7. Rumor has it that one or the other has even spent the night here during the exam period
Orientation week? Check!
The first week is almost over and I need a week's vacation to process all the new impressions, information and the fact that Vilnius is my new home. Over the last few days, we've been shown around the university and the City, tried Lithuanian dishes and there were get-to-know-you events every day, so there was no chance of missing home. The Erasmus network here at @vilniusuniversity is really big and everyone is very keen to help us internationals get off to a smooth start - successfully, I'd say! I still regularly get on the wrong buses or write emails to people who are not responsible for my concerns, but at least I feel a bit more welcome and in good hands.

Labas (the only word I already know, by the way),
dear outgoings and those who want to become one! I'm Gina, I'm studying Public Relations and Corporate Communications and I'm spending this semester at @vilniusuniversity in Lithuania. After a seemingly endless journey, I've finally arrived in my shared flat in Vilnius and will spend the next few days exploring the City before university starts. I'm looking forward to showing you a bit of my everyday life here and I'm excited about the time ahead of me!
