Our semester abroad came to an end this week! We handed in our exams on May 20th, which have already been graded. Accordingly, we went back to Germany, again by ferry with a short stay in Amsterdam :)

During our stay in Sunderland, we lived in a university hall of residence. We lived in a mixed shared flat with four other people. The room was furnished with a desk, bedside table, bed, wardrobe, shelves and a washbasin. We shared two showers and toilets and a kitchen with our flatmates.

Our last excursion together during our foreign stays took us to the Lake District. The national park is located in the northwest of England and is known for its narrow glacial lakes, rugged mountain peaks and historical connection to famous English poets and authors. The picturesque landscapes and idyllic villages provide a perfect backdrop for walking and relaxation. We enjoyed the breathtaking views and peaceful atmosphere that the Lake District has to offer.

Our foreign stays in England are coming to an end. But before we head back home, we have a few more trips planned. This weekend we were drawn to the largest City in Scotland - Glasgow. Between historical flair and the modern world, this is a City with a lot of charm and a special atmosphere.

The last two weeks were IDWs at Kiel UAS, which three of our friends from the UAS took as an opportunity to visit us in England. Together we went on trips to Durham and Newcastle. Jojo and the others then went on a short trip to London for three days. The trip took just under 3.5 hours by train.

The semester is coming to an end for us, so we're using the last few weeks to spend some time together. That's why we met up with our Study Abroad group and our business class to go bowling. We have a big bowling hall here where you can play all kinds of arcade games and the like - the place is just super cool! But from now on it's back to work! Our term papers are due in about three weeks.

During our tour of southern England, we also visited the small city of Bath, which is known for its natural thermal springs and baths dating back to Roman times. We continued on to the famous Stonehenge, which was built between the Neolithic and Bronze Age (3000 to 2000 BC). You don't have to pay to see this ancient monument. Don't be put off by the prices on the internet! You can get quite close by car and then walk a short distance for free. Our road trip ended in Nottingham, where the Robin Hood legend comes from.

Dublin ~ in addition to countless bars and pubs, as well as the world-famous Temple Bar District, Dublin has insanely beautiful little streets, cafés, Trinity College and an incredibly unique culture and atmosphere! A trip to the Atlantic coast to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway is also highly recommended! You can't really capture the breathtaking view in photos.

Spring break! Anastasia and I are traveling in the south of England this week, including Cambridge (the first five pictures) and Oxford (the last five + video). We visited the prestigious universities and enjoyed the atmosphere of the small towns. Unfortunately, you had to pay admission to many of the universities' colleges, which we didn't do - but we still got a lot of incredibly nice impressions of student life there!

The Guinness House! I'm traveling in Ireland this week and today we visited the famous Guinness House - in Ireland they drink Guinness! Personally, I'm not a fan of beer, but the tour was really worth seeing and is definitely recommended for everyone! Sláinte ~ Cheers!

The summer semester started at Kiel UAS this week, while for us in Sunderland the spring break has begun. After my last lecture, I took the direct train to London. The City is known for its rich cultural diversity and offers a wide range of different activities.

My family visited me at the weekend and we went on a trip to Scotland through the Highlands.
We went via Glencoe and Fort William to Loch Ness - the views are highly recommended and can't really be captured in pictures. Nevertheless, here's a little impression for you!

The university also has other offers for students. This weekend there was a trip to Manchester. We took the coach from Sunderland in the morning and had 6 hours free time there.

The nearest major City is only 20 minutes away from Sunderland. Newcastle not only impresses with its British architecture, but also offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. In the UK, stores are also open on Sundays, although the daily opening hours are significantly shorter than in Germany.

Just a 15 minute walk from our university is a wonderful little stretch of beach - Roker Beach, Sunderland! We are already looking forward to the summer here!

In addition to the gym, the university offers many other activities to stay active. Among other things, there are weekly "Wellbeing Walks". This week we went to Belmont (near Durham), where we visited abandoned places that are otherwise not so easy to find.

30 minutes from Sunderland is the beautiful city of Durham, which is best known for its cathedral, which you will recognize from famous films such as Harry Potter and Marvel.

University started this week in Sunderland! While you in Germany still have a semester break, we have already started the new semester. For us, the semester runs from January 29 to the end of May! Here are a few insights from our campus in Sunderland!
