Brief description

The data campus will further expand a pioneering role in the field of data science and artificial intelligence throughout the state and create a nationally leading center to bundle the core competencies of all universities in Schleswig-Holstein. Datencampus comprises the development of three core competencies:

  1. Building a data and AI platform that brings together scientists, practitioners and students to test and practically apply modern data analysis and AI methods; On this basis, pilot studies will be conducted in cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science (CIDS) at the CAU for the initiation of the tandem projects. In combination with the AI Transfer Hub, companies are to be supported in the implementation of data-driven business models and administrative structures;
  2. Connection to existing data and AI centers such as the Computational Sciences Center (CSC) at CAU, the AI Center in Lübeck or the Future Skills online learning system, in order to enable broad data science development across disciplinary boundaries and to strengthen AI teaching in SH;
  3. Expansion through data analysis tools to support researchers in their research work; this enables the establishment of Datencampus as a virtual research environment and thus, for the first time, the comprehensive and interdisciplinary data science development of the departments. The central point of the project is the development of a data and AI strategy for the various departments, from the generation of data to its systematic evaluation and subsequent use. The network is operated centrally at the CAU and made available state-wide to a broad user base such as GEOMAR, UKSH, IfW, ZBW, IPN.
