PROMOS

Scholarships for foreign stays outside Europe

The DAAD provides HAW Kiel with partial scholarships (residence and/or mobility) for study visits from BMBF funds in order to support the objectives of the Bologna Processes. Funding is available for high-achieving German students or equivalent foreign students who are completing a study and/or practical stay (project work, thesis) abroad.

Funding is available for:

1.study visits (including final theses) for students from all subject areas(3-6 months) at partner universities overseas (preferably with no or reduced tuition fees). Free movers can also apply for PROMOS funding.

Note for one-year stays:
Combined study and internship semesters of the DAAD

2. internships overseas or outside the Erasmus-funded countries(from 6 weeks) for students of all faculties in companies/institutions inconnection with their studies .

Simultaneous funding from other national programs (DAAD, e.g. HAW.International, Erasmus) is not possible. BAföG recipients must indicate the funding from the PROMOS program when applying for BAföG abroad.

    Notes

Experience has shown that the financial resources available to HAW Kiel for PROMOS scholarships are limited, so that only particularly convincing applications can be considered.

Funding may only be granted if there is no travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office for the region in question.

If you receive BAföG abroad, you are exempt from offsetting up to an amount of EUR 300 (PROMOS partial scholarship installment). Scholarship amounts in excess of this will be offset against any BAföG benefits received abroad. The BAföG offices are always responsible for offsetting against the foreign BAföG benefits and students must declare all income (including PROMOS funding) to them. For further information, please refer to the BAföG information from the Federal Ministry of Education.

We would like to draw your attention to the international insurance (combined health, accident and liability insurance) via the DAAD group rate, as the PROMOS program does not include any insurance cover. Insurance via the DAAD rates is possible for students and interns if they are supported by DAAD funds.
