MINT lab

Making the STEM lab at HAW Kiel usable for school and youth groups

Icon Social participation
Icon Sustainable value creation

Brief description

The aim of the project is to provide pupils and young people from the region east of the Kiel Fjord with practical educational and experiential opportunities in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). To this end, an innovative utilization concept is being developed for the new STEM laboratory at HAW Kiel. This concept provides both curriculum-based offers for schools and low-threshold and freely accessible offers for extracurricular youth groups. There is a particular focus on promoting equal opportunities and diversity: girls and young women are to be specifically encouraged to take an interest in STEM subjects and supported in the long term. Disadvantaged Youth are given the opportunity to discover and develop STEM skills through low-barrier and inclusion-oriented offers. The project thus makes an important contribution to promoting young talent in the STEM field and to strengthening educational equality in the region.
