Electromobility, smart grid and self-generation

Project (acronym)

Electromobility, smart grid and self-generation - economic insights into the operation of a depot for battery-electric buses (Emosyn)

Funding body

Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs and Transport / Directive: Electromobility

Funding amount

167.000 €

Brief description

To achieve climate protection targets in the transport sector, electric mobility in public transport is an important building block for sustainable mobility. Electric buses also help to improve air quality and reduce vehicle noise. While large public transport operators active in metropolitan regions are working very hard to electrify their fleets, it is essential for a small operator to be able to estimate investment decisions and operating costs as accurately as possible in advance. The project is therefore concerned with optimizing the charging infrastructure at a depot for public transport buses in rural regions. The aim is to define an economically optimized own share of renewable energy generation and the necessary dimensioning of a stationary energy storage system to absorb its own energy and stabilize voltage fluctuations.
