Development of a durable reinforced concrete repair system - SI-E-KKS
Project title
Development of a durable reinforced concrete reinforcement system (basalt fabric with titanium wire weave) for simultaneous strengthening and securing the load-bearing capacity by means of KKS - SI-E-KKS
Brief description
The aim of the project is to develop an innovative system in which damaged reinforced concrete components can be upgraded without major intervention and at the same time permanently protected against corrosion. To this end, a textile basalt fabric designed for static and fatigue loads is to be developed and a titanium wire woven into it so that a protective current can be applied as cathodic corrosion protection. In combination with the load-bearing basalt fabric, this CP repair method (CP) can also be used for concrete components with a high degree of corrosion progression, allowing repair and permanent corrosion protection to be carried out in a single work step. As there is no need for costly measures such as blasting off the chloride-contaminated concrete or replacing the reinforcement, concrete repairs can be carried out much more cost-effectively and with less downtime. Several infrastructure operators have already expressed their interest in the development, and the City of Kiel will provide a real project for pilot application.
