German as a foreign language (DaF)

Information regarding Summer Semester 2026:

  • German modules usually begin in calendar week 12, or the week beginning 16th March. These class-taught modules take place on campus.
  • Language levels are usually offered in two parts (A1.1, A1.2 ) …
  • Not all levels are offered every semester.
  • There is a minumum registration requirement in order for a course to take place.
  • There is often a waiting list for A1/A2 levels.

Registration:

  • For A1 modules: online via the Module Registration Tool from 02.03 - 10.03.2026
  • For A2/B1 modules: via e-mail to gabriele.braun@haw-kiel.de
  • For B1/C1 modules: via e-mail to victoria.rebensburg@haw-kiel.de 
  • Exchange students (Erasmus…): for all levels in agreement with the contact person responsible in the German Department.

Requirements for module participation/examination:

For all courses from A1.2 onwards you must provide proof of the required knowledge – either through:

  • A certificate confirming the successful completion of a German course with us at HAW Kiel/ZSIK. This must be presented on the first day of class.
  • By taking a placement test with us
  • You attend classes regularly from the very first day – attendance is mandatory (at least 80%).

  • You have the course materials (course book/workbook) from the beginning of the course.
