Institute for Leadership, People Management and Organization

OBJECTIVES AND MISSION
“People. Leadership. Change.” Under this motto, the Institute for Leadership, People Management & Organizational Design is dedicated to a practice-oriented, scientifically grounded engagement with the central challenges of modern corporate leadership. We combine current research, innovative teaching, and intensive exchange with business practice to prepare future professionals and leaders for responsible and impactful roles in organizations and society.

FOCUS IN TEACHING
Within our bachelor’s and master’s courses, we provide theoretically sound and practice-oriented competencies in the above-mentioned areas. Examples of key questions include:

  • How are leadership, organization, and HR changing under the conditions of digital transformation and artificial intelligence?
  • What competencies do employees need in times of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, hyper-competition, and disruptive change – and how can these be developed?
  • Leadership competence: Are leaders born, do they grow into their role, or are they “made”?
  • How can organizations attract, recruit, and retain the “best” employees in the “war for talent”?
  • What role does people analytics play in informed HR decision-making?
  • How can organizations find the “right” balance between stability (efficiency) and change (innovation, transformation)?

TARGET GROUP AND CAREER PROSPECTS
Our institute addresses students interested in taking on responsible roles at the intersection of people, organizations, and corporate strategy. Graduates qualify equally for positions in HR management, as change agents, organizational developers, and, more generally, as (emerging) leaders with personnel responsibility.

CURRENT RESEARCH AREAS
As part of our applied, practice-oriented research, we focus on topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence, hybrid leadership models, agile organizational forms, and resilient corporate culture.
