Information for First-Semester Students

The Economics Department at Kiel University of Applied Sciences warmly welcomes you as new students!

 

Below you will find information about our preliminary mathematics course and the welcome events for first-year students.

Since the online degree programmes differ from the on-campus programmes in many organisational aspects and we want to make the dates accessible to all students, we are offering additional dates for the welcome events. The preliminary mathematics course is open to students of all courses in the Department of Economics. Please take advantage of these dates – unfortunately, we are unable to offer individual instruction due to capacity reasons.

Have you been admitted to a higher semester? Regarding the crediting of certificates already obtained, please contact the Examination Office of the Department. 

It begins for all students with the preparatory course in mathematics, which takes place from 3 to 9 September 2025 (excluding weekends). Participation in our preliminary mathematics course is voluntary!

It will take place in person in Lecture Hall 2 (C08-0.02, Luisenstr. 28) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is not required.

You do not need to register for this preliminary course in advance in our Moodle system, but if you would like to, please do so here: https://learn.haw-kiel.de/course/view.php?id=10779 

Here you will also find the lecture notes, the script and exercises.

You will receive your access data for our Moodle courses once you have registered. However, these will be activated on 1 September 2025 at the earliest.

The welcome week for first-year Bachelor's students is planned for 15–17 September 2025 (starting on 15 September at 12:00 noon until approximately 5:00 p.m.). A detailed schedule will follow.
Participation in this (three-day) event is mandatory for all first-year students!
Your ‘actual’ lectures will then take place from Monday, 22 September 2025, according to the lecture schedule.
Registration for first-year Business Administration students is not required; you are automatically registered if you participated in the group assignment during the first-year welcome week!

Dates:

The Master's Welcome will take place on Wednesday AND Thursday, 10–11 September 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to approx. 5:00 p.m., in Lecture Hall 4 (C08-1.04, Luisenstr. 28, Building 8).
