Prof. Dr. Christopher J. Kühn teaches at the Institute of Management and Marketing at the Faculty of Business at Kiel University of Applied Sciences and is the program director of the Master’s program in Digital Business Management.

Christopher joined the faculty as a professor for Management/Digital Strategy in February 2021. Before that, he was a Senior Engagement Manager (Project Manager) at McKinsey & Company, Inc. based in Hamburg, Germany. He has a wide range of experience in strategy, transformation and digital topics across industries (medtech, pharma, private equity, automotive, banking, energy utilities, insurance, telco) in Europe, Africa and Asia.

 

Christopher holds a Diploma (Diplom-Kaufmann (Univ.)) and a PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) in Management with focus on Information Systems Management from University of Bayreuth.

  • Strategy, digital strategy, data strategy

  • Digitalization in SMEs, in particular interfaces / process automation (RPA/IPA) and artificial intelligence (AI)

  • Technologies: AI (image recognition primarily based on Ultralytics/YOLO; local LLMs), FPV drones, microcontrollers (especially ESP32, nRF52 in combination with LoRa), amateur radio (HAREC)

Projects:

Since 07/2021: Scientific lead in the project Regionales Zukunftszentrum Nord  (RZ Nord)/ AI module on behalf of Kiel University of Applied Sciences (core topic: digitalization and artificial intelligence in SMEs)

01/2023 – 12/2025: Scientific lead in the project EDIH.SH on behalf of the Faculty of Business at Kiel University of Applied Sciences (core topic: process digitalization, robotic process automation (RPA) / intelligent process automation (IPA) in SMEs and public administration)
