On the Master’s programme in Media Design, I not only learnt a great deal about the latest media technologies, but also had the freedom to apply this knowledge in practical semester projects. It was during my studies that the idea for founding my start-up first took shape. We are now well established in the market and are carrying out projects for clients throughout Germany.

What I’ve gained most from the Master’s in Media Design is the ability to provide well-founded justifications for creative and strategic decisions whilst also critically questioning them – something that guides me in my day-to-day work as a UI/UX designer. My in-depth study of media impact and media psychology also helps me to better understand users and to approach design with a long-term perspective.

I also found it particularly valuable to have the freedom to focus on UX design early on in my degree, whilst at the same time gaining insights into other topics such as cross-media concepts and the impact of advertising. This combination of theoretical depth, practical application and the ability to set my own priorities has really helped me develop professionally.

The degree programme enabled me to engage in-depth with the systematic development of communication strategies and media content. The strong practical focus and the opportunity to set my own areas of specialisation prepared me very well for my transition into professional life. The course content continues to shape my day-to-day work to this day and helps me to analyse problems in a structured way, understand stakeholders and develop targeted solutions based on this understanding.

As a PR consultant, I work every day at the interface between businesses, the media and the public. The Master’s in Media Concept Development has, above all, given me a strategic understanding of the media: how topics emerge, how they spread, and how to present content in a way that makes it relevant to different target audiences.

The conceptual and analytical approach, which was strongly emphasised during my studies, remains particularly helpful to me to this day. In my day-to-day work, this means quickly getting to the heart of complex issues, developing narratives and devising communication strategies that align with both the brand and the logic of the media.

The Master’s programme has thus given me a vital foundation not only for implementing communication at an operational level, but also for thinking strategically about topics and working with my clients to develop stories that actually make an impact.

“The Master’s in Media Design taught me to think through the crucial step before implementation: who is this being created for, why, and in what context? This is precisely the foundation of my day-to-day work – whether I’m advising museums on their digital transformation or designing immersive XR applications for cultural institutions.
Particularly valuable was the opportunity to focus on immersive media and to develop this area consistently. The programme not only gave me the conceptual tools, but also the framework to turn this into a career that truly brings technology and cultural outreach together.”
